I am drawn like a moth to lights and lanterns, arthouse films, galleries, coffee shops, orchids, old black and white photographs, rooting around flea markets and jumble sales, newsprint and text, Brick Lane, Camden and Portobello Road.

We were recently captivated by a display of Brassai's photos of Paris at night - which we saw at the George Pompidou Centre in Pairs. He made the most mundane scenes sing through his play with shadow and light. Somehow I missed the fact that he was Hungarian!
