I'm very excited to announce the birth of kipperbone, my vintage Etsy shop. I've been searching for small preloved things for a little while now. I've taken time to research and date them. Been careful to price things fairly and apply the correct postage and packaging rates.

At last it's up and running. There are only thirty-one items on sale so far, but bit-by-bit I'll add to it. There will be a section for handmade things too and eventually some of my artwork.

Officially the Harambee housing project, it was a government funded local community initiative, which aimed to provide rehabilitation and support for disillusioned black adolescents, who experienced prejudice and problems in education, employment and the law. For this exhibition we have invited 12 contemporary jewellers to respond to the work of printmaker Angie Lewin whose work is inspired by plants and gardens. Angie Lewin's prints will form part of the exhibition to complement the jewellery and vice versa. Jewellers include Alan Ardiff, Laura Baxter, Jessica Briggs, Shona Carnegie, Paul Finch, Catherine Hills, Clare Knox-Bentham, Julia MacGregor, Ruth Praill, Nikolay Sardamov Simone Salandini and Ruth Tomlinson.

Paula Modersohn-Becker

Sitting at my desk the other day I found myself staring at this postcard I'd blue-tacked up on my studio wall.  I'd found it in mum's papers after she died. I wasn't surprised to find it there...she loved children..I couldn't help wondering why the hands were so red and a little bit swollen looking...I didn't know the artist and so I took it down and had a look.  This sad little image was painted by German artist Paula Modersohn-Becker.

She only had a very short life dying after child-birth at the age of 31 but during that time produced what are considered to be the "most important representatives of early Expressionism."
